Hi Margos,
For curiosity, what SAP system is running on this MSDE database? I can't find any SAP NetWeaver based system that supports it.

Hi everybody,
i have some questions regarding a system copy without the sapinst setup.
I do some tests with a systemcopy (restore on different Server from Backup) where i can switch the DB part
with a script and do not use the sapinst on the DB server.
I found the Note 1294762 - SCHEMA4SAP.VBS
Has anyone more expiriences with this and can give some information?
Do that script everything what is done by the sapinst setup on DB side?
How can i check if everything is correct changed in each table after a systemcopy with that script?
Exist a Systemcheck script or something like this?
Information about that topic are very welcome.....
Hello Thomas
You can choose any method: backup/restore, deatach/attach or export/import.
Check note 151603 for further information.
Thanks
Sadiq
Hello Sadiq,
do you know if a method exist to verify the result?
Report or something like this.
Or what would you suggest to be a good verifier that the systemcopy is well?
Hello Thomas
Yes there is a method for report,
i would suggest to go with the backup/restore or attach/detach using sapinst and its also very easy .
I did many time with fails
Thanks
Sadiq
Hi,
I have been able to install the correct media for ECC6.0 sr3 using SWPM SP07 onto a SQL server 2012.
This installs Netweaver 7.0 SR3 to SP14.
The SAP notes and install guides in regard to 2012 clearly state that Netweaver needs to be at SP26, before you do anything other than set up the TMS.
In 2012 you cannot use SPAM or SAINT to add patches and must rely on SUM.
I have tried to download the stacks with the stack.xml but SUM SP12 states that the stack.xml is rejected as I believe it is looking for a MOPZ generated stack xml. It will not let me do this manually as it is an ABAP only system.
I cannot do this through MOPZ as I need to do quite a bit of manual config to attach the server, as a managed system, to our Solution Manager server first. However the OSS note tells me to get it to SP26 first.
Surely there must be a way to get an install up to the required SP26 on SQL2012 running on a 2012 Server
Any ideas please?
thanks
Hello Sue,
Install your ECC 6 SR3 on SQL Server 2008 (R2), update your SP Stack and then move to SQL Server 2012.

Hello Thomas,
The 'script move' from note 1294762 is part of the system copy and some manual steps are required afterwards.
Using SWPM all the steps are performed automatically. I strongly advice you to use SWPM to perform this system copy.

Hi Thomas,
What is the reason for not wanting to use SWPM/sapinst? If you don't use this tool, there will be many more manual steps required than changing the schema; it's quite a bit more involved than that. The tool really works quite well.
Cheers,
Matt
Hi Mofizur,
I have tried your suggestion already. When I ran SUM to do this I get a message saying you cannot do this manually with an ABAP only stack,
thanks
Sue
Hello Sue,
SUM - 'manually prepared directory' option doesn't work for ABAP stacks. Therefore you should provide a valid stack file path for SUM to proceed further.
Here's a note for the same:
1641062 - Single component update and patch scenarios in SUM
regards,
pavan
Hi Pavan,
I have also tried this. I gave it a valid path to the stack and got the same error as the one at the bottom of the OSS note you provide
Updating / patching single components for ABAP only systems is not supported
regards
Sue
Hi Sue,
Pavan and you are right!I believe there is no other option other than MOPZ XML.
As per 1676665 - Setting up Microsoft SQL Server 2012
ABAP, ABAP+Java: Immediately after the installation, configure the transport management system (TMS) and then use the Software Update Manager (SUM) to apply the required SAP Support Package Stack (SPS) defined in SAP note 1651862 for your SAP product.
In general, the ABAP SP level of the installation export is not sufficient for running on SQL Server 2012. Therefore - although eventually requested in the post-installation section of the installation guide - all operations on the SAP application server (other than configuring the TMS) must be postponed until the required SPS defined in SAP note 1651862 has been applied by using SUM.
Thanks,
Mofizur
Hi Thomas
As of now there no such scripts are avaiable which can eleminate the use of SWPM /SAPINST. better you can search any other third party tool or use the SAP LVM.

Hi,
i found the Note
950619 - Installation of SAP Systems with Unattended Mode
Maybe if all of you advise SWPM i will try to unattend the SWPM......
If anyone know about existing scripts i am very interessted?
Hello Sue,
The, you must use SUM to apply the required SP Stack.

Hi
We are getting Encryption ERROR - Could not find certificate or secret key when executing report ZSSF_TEST_PSE
SWPM is already a mostly automated tool. All you have to do is provide some parameters at the beginning and then let it rip. So, it is doing most of what your script would do.
There are other manual activities to do after SWPM has finished, of course, as detailed in the system copy guide. Mostly these aren't part of SWPM because they are too specific to your environment, but obviously within your environment they will be mostly the same each time. Also, most of these tasks are done within the system, via SAPGUI, so for automation you might be looking at a combination of a GUI script plus an ABAP program, something like that. That is something you'll probably have to develop in-house, though, precisely because it is so customer-specific.
